Day 6: 18 November 2022
I’ve fallen such a long way behind on my NaNo that I’ve had to recalculate.
As of today, Saturday 19 November, I still have 12 days left, including weekends, because I think I’m going to have to shift to weekends too now, to catch up. So I did my sums and worked out that my new daily target is: 3,007 words.
Against my original target of 2,273 words for 22 days, that’s not too bad. It’s only another 734 words a day, and there are only 2 weekends left in November, so not a big deal either.
I can do that.
The big thing I’ve done is add a writealong to the project management book, using the steps in my real life project The Beast Within to illustrate the steps in the project management process. I’m doing the planning longhand, in an exercise book, and typing up the work pages to the Scrivener file to use as examples.
If this works as well as I hope it will, then when the omnibus is published β a bundle of all 5 books in the series β I’ll include the novel as well, at the end, as a Brucie bonus.
Of course what that means is that I kill 2 birds with one stone: I get to finish the project management series *and* I have a new novel to boot, which I’m also writing as I go along. There’s a chunk of the novel drafted, but the planning sheets all need writing.
I only added 967 words to the tally yesterday, but I’m back on track now.
Day 1 = 3,706 words.
Day 2 = 2,508 words.
Day 3 = 2,585 words.
Day 4 = 1,412 words.
Day 5 = 2,743 words.
Day 6 = 967 words.
Excellent progress.
Getting there slowly…
