Writing marathons are not good

(Image by cocoparisienne from Pixabay) Tuesday 10 August 2021 The day did not start as late as I thought it would, but it did start later than I would like. These last-minute writing marathons have to stop. They’re simply not sustainable. Of course, it’s my own fault. I should just do my work when it’s scheduled instead of faffing. Overnight, the ghostwriting instalment that I submitted was approved for payment and the contract arrived for Book 5 Part 4. This […]

That was the week that was

I didn’t have a great start to the week due to a rough night on Sunday and a long lie-in on Monday. However, I did manage to get some things done. Monday One of the things I wanted to do was see if there was any other editing or proofreading work coming up. I checked the job board, and of the 5 jobs I selected, 4 had already hired and one wanted a Canadian/American English speaker only. I can do […]

Publicity

I was having a bit of a rummage through NetGalley to see if there were any new reviews for The Life of Richard Cadbury. I couldn’t see any for that one, but there were a few new ones for the first book, A History of Cadbury. First job of the day for yesterday, then, was collecting 5 of these reviews and creating flyers out of them. Number 1 is above, and the other 4 will follow when I can’t find a different […]

National lockdown, again

Image by J Garget from Pixabay I didn’t have a great start to the new year. I was busy all day, yet I don’t appear to have got anything done. And then, of course, came the news. National lockdown Not that a national lockdown changes anything much for me. But if the poet gets furloughed again, we may need my wages to fall back on, again. But … enough about that. I’m sure the news is full of it wherever […]

It was new month day, so that meant updating the new […]

Camp NaNoWriMo – and so it begins

Yes, it’s started. And for the first time ever, I’m joining in with a Camp NaNoWriMo. This should be a little easier than the usual NaNoWriMo, as there are 31 days in July as opposed to the 30 days in November. But this time I’m just writing on normal work days, so that’s weekdays only. If I get the urge to do more, then weekend writing will be a bonus. Yesterday morning was all about prep work. (Mornings are my time.) […]

Monday 7 October 2019

Friday morning began with some Pomodoro admin and a jigging about of each one, resulting in one Pomodoro less per day and a shorter dinner break, but longer Pomodoro breaks. I certainly didn’t feel quite so rushed by the end of the day and had more time to breathe. I wrote my daily blog post, tidied up my Twitter feed, was approved for two more NetGalley books, and did some work on the Cadbury book. In the afternoon, I scheduled […]

Thursday 5 September 2019

I didn’t do so well on the word-count yesterday. My morning was pretty much wasted due to me waiting on something Really Important in an online game I play. I’m trying to curb my time on social media anyway, but this game is turning into a real time-sucker. Recently, I’ve been looking at it over breakfast and setting it off for 8 hours, or 4 hours if I think I might have a go at dinnertime or if I’m working […]

Monday 12 August 2019

Friday was a good day, even if I didn’t manage everything I wanted to do. I did a NetGalley book review and posted it to here, to Amazon, to Twitter and to NetGalley, and I started the next book … and wow! I feel as though I’m reading a fast-moving thriller movie along the lines of John Wick. I’m loving it. I also managed a writing diary update on here. But that was about all the writing work I got through. […]

Thursday 25 July 2019

Yesterday’s to-do list was slightly adventurous … but I did it all. It doesn’t look a lot, but it is still time-consuming. I was late getting up, don’t forget, due to the storm the previous night, but my list didn’t get any shorter as a result. The first hour was spent reading. I read a chapter of the new NetGalley book, a chapter for the Richard Cadbury research, and a chapter for The Beast Within. Then I did some quick writing. […]
