Weekend working again

Despite still being busy, I finished work at 5pm on Friday. I already knew I’d be working at the weekend, and we needed to do the shopping before we had tea. So I called it a day.

Saturday

On Saturday I was up quite early (for me). The poet decided to go fishing for the day because I was working.

Here’s how the day went:

  • went through and removed my byline where I’d used it on Medium¹
  • epublished Chapter 10 of Diary of a Scaredy Cat on Medium
  • epublished Chapter 11 of Night Crawler on Medium
  • shared links for the Medium stories on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • made the link for Night Crawler free to Facebook friends
  • revised the 2nd instalment of the ghostwriting gig and sent it back to the client
  • started today’s blog post (315 words)
  • started to study a publication I’d like to write for²
  • sent Tales From Baggins Bottom Best Bits Book 3 to my Kindle³
  • wrote 1,817 words for the ghostwriting gig

Words written today = 2,132

¹Sometimes I can be a bit slow. No really, I can. And it took me two weeks to realise that including my byline on Medium stories is a bit belt-and-braces when there’s an auto-byline stamp on every story. It probably also looks a bit narcissistic. Duh!

²There are a few publications on Medium I’d like to write for, and I fired off three or four applications to some I’d already studied. One of those accepted my application on Saturday, and so I’ve been studying it more thoroughly. I think I have several ideas that they might like.

³As I was republishing the three ebooks, I did a quick scan, and there were some layout issues with book 3. So before it goes live, I want to proofread it again on the Kindle. The other two are live now and on Kindle Unlimited, and so they’re FREE to members.

Sunday

The poet had his second Covid jab booked for Sunday and we had to go and get a few things, like bird food. But I still managed a couple of hours work before we went out. And I did another hour or so when we got back.

Here’s how Sunday went:

  • epublished Chapter 11 of Diary of a Scaredy Cat on Medium
  • epublished Chapter 12 of Night Crawler on Medium
  • shared links for the Medium stories on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • made the link for Night Crawler free to Facebook friends
  • imported a story from the blog onto Medium¹
  • took the poet to have his second Covid jab
  • added 177 words to today’s blog post
  • wrote 2,741 words for the ghostwriting gig

Words written today = 2,918

¹As I’ve not yet had chance to write any new material of my own, I’m worried that my Medium page is looking a bit same. There are chapters from two books on there, the writing prompts, and the occasional short story from the archives. So I’m going to export a few blog posts over there too.

Holly seemed back to normal again. For the first time in this lovely weather, she sat in the garden either sunbathing or just sitting on the garden bench watching the birds. She’s being a bit vocal, which is a bit out of character for her. But at least she’s brighter and she feels as though she’s putting on weight.

The dog was also put on a diet when I went on a diet. The poet weighed him and he was 4kg heavier than what he normally is. So the dog is on 2 meals a day (90g of dried food x 2) plus a dental stick and perhaps a dog chew when he’s been good.

Monday

I managed to get up a bit earlier on Monday, but by the time I’d done stuff around the house and hung out some washing, it was 10am when I arrived at my desk.

I hadn’t done my diary for the week yet, because I wanted to see how much I got through at the weekend so that I would know how much I still have to do. First job was doing the diary for Monday and Tuesday. I’ll do the rest once I’ve submitted the ghostwriting instalment.

Here’s how Monday went:

  • epublished Chapter 12 of Diary of a Scaredy Cat on Medium
  • epublished Chapter 13 of Night Crawler on Medium
  • shared links for the Medium stories on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • made the link for Night Crawler free to Facebook friends
  • added 278 words to today’s blog post
  • wrote 13,997 words for the ghostwriting gig

Words written today = 14,275

It was another late finish, so that makes Tuesday another late start. See you tomorrow!
