With news from two previous members that one will be back next week and another as soon as she gets the all clear from her doc, we had another positive meeting with four in attendance.
I also fed back work so far in trying to get the library as a write-in venue for this year’s NaNoWriMo. The NaNo site has had a revamp and is currently in transition, but I put it out there and I received a reply. As soon as the Yorkshire forum is up and running, we’ll be able to discuss it further.
Pauline started us off again with another new memoir. My New Start told us all about how she changed one aspect of her life after receiving life-saving treatment.
For her additional homework last week, Pauline jotted down as many stories or episodes she could think of that might be missing from the memoir so that she can tick them off as she completes them. This was one of those. She also gave us another older one, In The Beginning, which was the story that started her off on this journey.
I read out Scene 12 of The Fool, which was just over 900 words . My homework last week was to write the next scene, Scene 13, and I read that too, which was another 900 words or so.
Georgie’s homework was to complete one of her reflections upon an illustration, Red Ladies. She ended up starting a book and she read the opening pages. Because of her working on this, she was unable to complete the other two projects, but they’re still there waiting for her.
Our homework this week is:
- Pauline: Write at least one new memoir from her list.
- Georgia: Continue with Red Ladies .
- Diane: Write at least one scene for The Fool.
- Martin: Write something if he feels up to it. (He’s still shy and would rather read or give feedback, which is fine. He gives good feedback.)
Pauline is going in for a cataract operation on Friday and will be out of action for about a fortnight. We wish her all the best, and a speedy recovery.
The next meeting will be on Monday 30 September at 2:30pm.
