Burning the midnight oil (again)
So, on Monday, I made it to my desk by 10am! (Yay!) I’d already checked social media before getting up, and I read a couple of chapters of my NetGalley book over breakfast. This meant that by the time I did him my desk, I didn’t have any faffing to do.
Or not much.
I didn’t start with the handwriting on Monday because I still had a lot of ghostwriting words to write. The handwriting segment will be the first job of the day once I’ve caught up.
If the ghostwriting submission went off last night, today will be clear of client work and I can concentrate on my own work. For a whole day.
In future, I’m going to schedule this client-clear day in between submissions. I’m hoping that this removes the urge to faff all day when I’m busy on client work. Mornings are for my work, afternoons are for clients. I have to stop getting them mixed up.
First job of the day was to go through Chapters 9 and 10 of the project management book adding the poet’s contributions to the main document. Then these two chapters were formatted so that they were ready to co up on Medium.
The next job, then, was to post Chapter 9 of Project Management for Writers: Gate 1 to Medium, and do all of the link sharing.
I would have liked to have written Chapter 11 of the project management book next, as it needs to be back from the poet with his input by Wednesday morning.
However, I decided to start the client work an hour earlier, promising myself a reward of writing Chapter 11 once it was done. So off went the internet.
I finished work at 3am, and I wrote 11,318 words. I didn’t get to write Chapter 11.
Here’s how Monday went:
- added 339 words to Project Management for Writers: Gate 1 (339 words)
- formatted and published Chapter 9 for Project Management for Writers: Gate 1 on Medium
- shared links for the Medium story on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
- added the new story on Medium to the master index
- wrote 11,318 words for ghostwriting gig #5 Part 2, and submitted it (11,318 words)
- wrote today’s blog (369 words)
Words written today = 12,026 words
