Writing diary

I want to get back to blogging on a regular basis, with at least an update of what I did “yesterday” and what I intend to do “today”.

I’ll still interpolate all of this with the diaries (of a novel, of a pocket novel), my fat year updates, weekly reports from the writing group, book reviews, etc, and I really, really, really ought to finish my 52 Books in 52 Weeks posts (reading and reviews) – I’m so close to the end.

I made a good start yesterday.

I did some writing work onΒ The Fool, so that I had something to read out at the writing group. It was only one scene and it was around 800 words, but it was something at least.

Then I moved on toΒ Catch the Rainbow. I printed a few scenes off so that I could read them aloud at the meeting. This is something I’ve been missing – the dog will only give so much feedback – although the poet is very good. But it’s nice to get instant feedback from people who aren’t emotionally involved too, or who haven’t helped thrash out the plot with you.

The diary was brought up to date for the first time in weeks. I do still like to keep a nice, neat diary. Ticking things off as I do them is such a motivation. I also have a to-do list online, but that includes all the household chores as well.

I printed off the current editing job and made a start on that. I’m a bit late with this as I’ve been feeling a bit sorry for myself and wasn’t up to par for several days last week. It’s a nice story, though, well-written. I can already see that, so that’s good.

The invoice went off for last week’s work. It’s always good to raise a new invoice and I still get ridiculously excited every time.

I packed a new work bag, and I headed off to the writing group for a couple of hours.

Today I need to catch up with the editing job. I have three lots of reading to do too, for my own work. I want to write up yesterday’s meeting at the writing group. And I have to pay my membership to the Crime Writers’ Association

Oh, did I mention that the CWA have accepted me as a full member? The large print version of Night Crawler entitled me to join, and so I’ve joined as a digital member, which is Β£10 a year cheaper than a not-digital member. I think that’s something to do with the newsletter. I can’t tell you how chuffed I am that they’ve let me in. πŸ˜„
