Today’s image is another from our campsite 2 weeks ago. I might just use these pictures all this week, just to give an idea of why we keep going back there and why we like it so much.
Last Tuesday, at around 5pm, I got the phone call to go and collect the poet from hospital – a whole hour early! He was still very poorly, but they’d taken him off the drip the day before and felt as though they’d stabilised his oral medication. And, of course, all he wanted was to come home.
He was warned he wouldn’t feel well for 2 or 3 days, and they didn’t lie, but for some reason he was still surprised when what the experts said actually happened. But he did start to feel better and every day he did a bit more, every day realising he’d done a bit too much.
We were both poorly last week, though. Obviously, I wasn’t as ill as he was (and I mean that sincerely, rather than facetiously). I only had a common cold. But it still knocked me sideways and we just muddled on together until we both started to feel better.
We had errands to run as well that couldn’t be avoided, such as registering with our new GP, who used to be our old GP when we lived here before, 4 years ago. I did all the driving.
On Friday I’d already decided I’d be back at work again today and I did a bit of planning, which consisted of moving everything along, again, by a week.
We had plenty of pre-made meals in the fridge and freezer and on Saturday I went and did the weekly shop, which was much smaller than usual as I’d done a midweek shop only a few days earlier.
The rest of the weekend was slow and lazy with the dog getting short, gentle walks around the neighbourhood.
The plan for today is more planning basically. On Friday I allocated blocks of time for short stories without actually assigning any short stories. That work will be done today. I don’t expect to write anything new this week, but the new short story schedule will start next week.
Then the republishing kicks in again this afternoon and for the rest of the week, plus I start a brand-new job for the editing client.
