Friday 20 February 2026: Love Your Pet Dog Day

Apparently, it’s Love Your Pet Dog Day today. I don’t think I need to say we love our pet dogs every day, and everyone else’s too!

I’m late again today, writing this up Friday morning instead of doing is as I go along on Thursday.

The day started earlyish because the poet had a couple of local appointments before heading off to work. I had my dirty cuppa during my quiet hour and actually managed to read a chapter of my book. Reading time has gone out of the window again lately, not long after I introduced it, in fact.

I had some play time in the garden with the dogs, in the rain. And then the rest of the day was spent on the proofreading work. I wanted to get the hard copy done yesterday so I could make the screen changes today. So everything else got moved along so I could concentrate on that.

The dogs seemed to want a lot of attention for most of the day and in the end I packed up my work and moved into the living room with them, where they both curled up on their favourite seats, again, and went to sleep.

They’re making a habit of that just lately, making me move into the living room with them because they’re being nuisances and the proving me wrong within seconds of landing.

I did have to curtail my work for an hour or so when Son #2 popped in to see us. Once he was gone, we had a late tea (chorizo and rice followed by jelly – jell-o – and ice cream), and I spent an hour finishing the proofreading.

Then we settled down to watch the telly.

The former Andrew known previously as a prince was arrested yesterday morning, and the news was mostly about that. I’m surprised they took so long, but I also think he should have just handed himself in long ago and volunteered to be questioned, or whatever it is they were doing with him all day. I think the public would have a more favourable opinion of him if he’d just done that.

I have a short story to write today, those screen changes to do, and a hair appointment at 4pm. So this post is short n sweet again.

Have a great weekend. I don’t know what we’ll be doing, but I think a visit to the campervan is in order so we can jump-start the flat battery from my car. We haven’t worked out how to do it yet from the poet’s all singing, all dancing super-dooper car.

  1. At least your country is doing something, while ours just gets worse, and there are no consequences for anyone. Because the ones in charge are all part of it. It’s very frustrating.

    Have a good weekend.
