So I didn’t get around to scheduling a post on Thursday, writing a review for Saturday, or publishing a book today. I did, however, make it to surgery on Thursday and the operation was apparently ‘uneventful’.
They did actually call me Thursday morning to see if I could get there early, and we dashed around to do so. But then they kept me waiting anyway until way after my original admission time.
I went into theatre at 2:30pm on the dot and the surgeon was calling the poet about an hour later to let him know all had gone well.
The time between the recovery room and waking up at home on Friday afternoon is a bit of a blur. I remember going to the car Thursday night, but I don’t remember getting out of the car, going into the house or getting into bed.
We had a very relaxing, do-nothing birthday weekend and will celebrate properly once I’ve fully recovered. I have 4 incisions healing nicely and can bend over at the waist again now. But it’s a bit uncomfortable still.
I’m taking at least the week off. I might read (the reading list is out for the gothic writing workshop), I might write (novella #5 is in progress), or I might just watch telly.
Thanks for all the birthday and get well messages!
I’m glad the surgery went well and you were able to enjoy your birthday at least a little bit! Take it easy and have a restful week to fully recover.
