Friday seems like such a long time ago. We must have had a good weekend. I know I forgot to write today’s blog post, so I’m writing it Monday morning instead.
On Thursday night, we were asked to go and collect one of the dogs at short notice, which was a nice surprise. We picked her up at around 9:30pm. It’s always lovely to have a dog in the house again.
I did more character work for the next book in the great novella challenge. I’m still amazed I’m currently working on Book 7. I only started the challenge in November.
I had a go at an assignment for the writing with depth workshop. I don’t get to hand it in because I got the course as part of a bundle at a discount. But it’s still good to have a go at what they suggest.
I had another muse over the WMG Publishing Kickstarter. I’m seriously contemplating one of the special workshops that kicks off in June.
And then I revised the second week of the writing with depth workshop. I made a note of the next assignment and gave it a go.
I can’t remember what else I did on Friday. But I do know I still managed to avoid all of Meta. And I shared the last of the NC500 pictures from my phone to BlueSky.
Saturday
We were up early on Saturday and already shopping before our midday breakfast, which is a first. Well, not actually a first, but certainly a first in a long time.
We took the dog back, and we did the supermarket, the butcher, and the garden bird food store in the morning and came home and had cereal for our breakfast.
After we got home, the poet went to collect the van so he could fit the new wing mirror we lost in Scotland. I kept well out of his way, as car stuff really isn’t his thing at all. He did very well. He fitted it quite quickly, considering he doesn’t usually do anything like it. We got the van back to the lock-up in time for closing, and visited the poet’s mum on the way home.
We skipped a meal on Saturday, but we did have an ice cream (Magnums) in between. The weather was so lovely, we had a chicken caesar salad for tea.
Sunday
On Sunday, we decided to go shopping again. My pumps (plimsolls) and my flip-flops (thongs) are permanently in the van now, and I needed another pair of summer shoes to leave in the house so I can do things around the garden. We had a lazier start, though, and we went out after our midday breakfast.
On the way back, we took the car to a hand-car-wash we use, and by the time we got home, it was time for our 3pm dinner, which we’d skipped the day before. The poet had put a piece of beef in the slow cooker, and we decided to have salad again.
Before we went out, we washed the sleeping bags and hung them on the line along with another washload. By 5pm, these were all bone-dry and back in again. We’re having some lovely weather at the moment. I hope all the rain- and snow-moaners remember this sunshine. The UK is already warning about a drought and hose-pipe bans and water rations.
This week
The client edit author revisions haven’t arrived yet, so I’ve moved the client edit along a bit. If it takes much longer, the publisher will be postponing publication, but I’m loath to start the screen edits until I’ve seen the author revisions, in case he’s changed what I’ve already hard-copy edited.
I’m going to carry on plodding through the writing with depth workshops, maybe try and clear a week’s worth of videos per day. I have Lady Mathilda and the Baronet to start writing. And I have the next short story to write for 12 Stories in 12 Months.
I’ll be illustrating the blog for the next 2 weeks with some of my favourite images from our Scotland holiday. I know many of you will have seen these on Instagram, Facebook and BlueSky, but I also know not all of you are on there. Plus, the blog is separate from my social media anyway. We’re still working on the vlog and the other images.

Sounds like a lovely weekend!
If we get up early enough, we don’t waste as much of the weekend!
