Thursday 11 June 2026: Keys!

Sooo, all being well, we collect the keys to our new house today. We’ve already exchanged contracts. We just have to wait for the sellers’ estate agent to call us to let us know the money has landed and then we can go and collect the keys.

In the meantime…I worked all day solid on the proofreading yesterday. It’s the only job I did, all day, apart from today’s blog post. I toyed with writing up a couple of book reviews, but decided I’d only do that if I got where I wanted to be with the proofreading.

I did have a quick look at the book review situation first, over my dirty cuppa, and I decided to choose the book I’ve been hoarding for the longest time to read and review next, even with 2 reviews already waiting to be written and posted.

It ended up as a will-not-review as it wouldn’t open on my Kindle and kept crashing it. I won’t give a poor star rating to a book I haven’t even read, so I did give it 3 stars (to me, 1 star is a poor rating). I mean, after all, it did crash my Kindle.

And I collected the next one that had been on my list the longest, and this one worked. So that is the one I’ll be reading next. It’s by a very good author and I know the television series based on the stories, so I’m expecting big things.

An email came in regarding the assignment I submitted last week for the making a living with novels workshop with some very favourable comments on. And an email came in from the solicitor’s secretary with the formal confirmation that contracts had been exchanged and that we were now legally committed to buying the house.

But for the rest of the day it was the proofreading, which I’m delighted to say was finished and sent back to the client! Yay!

The blog will be taking a break now until I’m back at work. Wish us luck, and see you on the other side!
