I’ve said it before, but Thursdays are always my most tired days, for some reason, and this week was no different. Really struggled to get up yesterday. I think we’re still catching up from having the dog at the weekend.
Once up, though, I was straight on with the social media catch up over my dirty cuppa, and I had to share (again!) yesterday’s post to BlueSky because JetPack didn’t do it. JetPack are aware of the issue now and are working on fixing the bug, so that’s something at least. Sometimes they work, more often they miss.
I put a washload through and hung a washload out. There were some bits in the tumble dryer that had to be folded and put away, so I did that as well. While I was outside, I fed and watered the garden birds. And when I was back inside, I emptied the dishwasher and started to fill it again.
Once at my desk, the first job I did was share the gig list post. Then it was working on the novella for the challenge. I created my binder with the structure I want for this particular series, and then I made a blank copy of the the same project so it’s there ready for the next instalment. Hark at me, I haven’t even written this one yet and I’m thinking about Book 2 in the series! Such faith!
I took a break from the novella while we had our breakfast, then I carried on having a break by collecting an old article on historical accuracy and formatting it to fit the 2nd tier of membership on the Patreon. I removed the original article from the website, and I located the original image and credit and added those in. Then I created another collection on there, Writing on Writing.
The next nuts-and-bolts article I want to put up there is the one on the income octopus. So I collected all versions of that, located the image and the credit, and put everything together in an assets folder. I have a Scrivener binder for articles and fillers, where the book reviews usually reside as well, but a couple of them had sneaked into the blog posts binder. So I moved those back, while I was in there. And then I scheduled a story to post in time for Halloween, only it has to be 4 weeks before Halloween so that when it goes up on the website for a week as well it’s still topical.
Then I noticed that on all 4 articles/stories on there so far, I’d copied the wrong newsletter link. So I had to go in and change all of those to the correct newsletter link.
I’d just about got back onto the novella when the poet came home and we had to go out. He wanted some black trousers for the funeral that would go with the Monkey Dust t-shirt without looking too disrespectful. (See below.) We went to Meadowhall shopping centre and bought his trousers and a new pair of boots. We looked for a new coat for me, but I wanted a donkey jacket or a duffel coat and nowhere had either.
We had our tea out, at our favourite Pizza Express. I asked if they’d upgrade a side to a main for me, which they did, no problem, and I had mac and cheese with ham. Afterwards we both had white chocolate blondies with salted caramel sauce and broken pretzels. It was very delicious.
By the time we got home, the only thing I had time for was today’s blog post. So I quickly finished it and scheduled it. Let’s see if JetPack works today…
It’s the funeral this morning of our very good friend and bandmate who died so unexpectedly. The surviving band members will be pall bearers, and they’ve been asked to wear their Monkey Dust t-shirts. It’s going to be a sad and emotional day, but we must remember to celebrate his life as well as mourn his passing.
This evening, we get the dog back again…I wonder what we’ll be doing this weekend with him.
Have a great weekend.

Thinking of you both at this difficult time.
Thank you. All went as it should, with tears, laughter and a lot of respect.
