Chapter 50: Friday 28 October

I was whizzed through the 6:40pm appointment on Wednesday at record speed and by 8pm we’d eaten and were home again. We had Burger King and Dunkin’ Donuts for tea, which was a nice treat. And we bought enough doughnuts for yesterday and today as well.

First job of the day was another book publication, this time a flash fiction due out on 7 November. This isn’t part of my publishing challenge, but it did mean another publication without a break in between, which will take my tally to 55 on the bounce.

Then I created the graphics for Monday’s publication (The Bonfire Party) and this latest one (Poppy Day). I didn’t write any blog posts for them, though, as I had other work to do.

The rest of the day was spent on editing. I want to get this book off my desk and back to the author.

At the end of the day I received an email saying that Poppy Day was too short. I replied, listing all of the other books in the Flash Fiction series, and pointed out that Poppy Day was actually the second longest.

I was led to believe previously that it was the likes of Amazon who were blocking some of my books. Now I’m starting to wonder if it’s an over-enthusiastic new member of staff at the aggregator, or the aggregator’s algorithm.

I’m glad this has come at the end of my 54-week marathon because, if I have to go to each publisher individually to publish a book, it’s going to take me a lot longer to publish it.

Saying that, the email wasn’t long coming back saying that they’d ‘attempted to republish the book’, and thanking me for my reply.
