Mock magazine cover + FREE gift for subscribers

I’ve been working on the contents for the new magazine, the first issue of which will hopefully be out on 1 October.

I still have some work to do, such as two new short stories to write. However, as I wanted one of the stories to reflect the cover image, I had to choose that too.

All of the cover images planned so far will feature somebody reading as the magazine is called Words Worth Reading. (Do you see what I did there?) The covers and the stories will also be seasonal where possible.

The long-term plan is to publish the magazine every month and to include the following:

  • a welcome letter from me
  • a complete novella
  • one episode of a serial (either a serialised novel or a brand-new serial in the classic sense)
  • one episode of a brand-new series (where the stories are all standalone but linked)
  • one short story from the archives
  • two brand-new short stories
  • four book reviews
  • coming next time

The bright-eyed and bushy-tailed will notice that this list has changed since the last time I shared it. I think I’ve thrashed it about a bit and am now happy with the contents.

As I don’t really have time to write a brand-new serial on top of everything else, I’m going to serialise Night Crawler in the first instance, in four parts.

There are only three weeks left in September, and I have one novel to finish ghostwriting and two new ones to start. So as ever I’m going to be busy. (No pressure there, then…)

At the moment, the mock cover looks like the image here, but that will change as soon as I have the title (and the story!) for the cover story. If you have the time, do let me know what you think.

The electronic version of the magazine will be available in multi-format, and I’m giving away the first issue absolutely FREE to everyone who subscribes to my blogletter.

I’ll also be publishing it in paperback, but I won’t be able to give that away, I’m afraid.
