Mondays are always good…

Monday’s are always good… but then everything usually goes downhill from there!

Monday 23 August 2021

Considering I didn’t stop work all weekend and I finished very late on Saturday and late-ish on Sunday, I was up surprisingly early and at my desk by 10am.

I had a lot to do, though, but only a handful of things for myself before the client work kicked in.

My first job was to share yesterday’s blog post to Substack, the old site (I’m providing links back for the time being), and to social media. I prepared some previous Wednesday writing prompts for Medium, and I did some gig list admin. Then I started today’s blog post.

I’d allocated 90 minutes to my own work, and I was ready to start client work by 11:30am. This must surely be a record!

The first job was to quickly look at the revisions for ghostwriting Book 6 Part 2, which arrived the day after I submitted Part 3. But there weren’t any. Revisions. Only lots of really nice comments, which was quite motivating because I’ve found this one to be a little difficult.

I put Book 6 to one side, as I’m not on that one at the moment. Then I opened up Book 5. First of all I had a look at the beta reader’s revisions for Part 2 and Part 3, discounted most of them, and fixed the typos.

Over dinner I read up about follow buttons on wordpress.org and while I’m struggling to find one that works in the sidebar, I have now worked out how to add a follow check box to the comments form. More info in yesterday’s bonus blog post here.

I also found out how to add related blog posts with thumbnails beneath each post. Go on, have a look. I’ll wait. 🙂

So that was far too many rabbit holes for one day, thank you very much.

After dinner, it was back to the ghostwriting and I did a read through of Part 3 before starting Part 4. Then I had some proofreading to do for the Yorkshire editing client. I’d already consolidated the author’s corrections, but this time I added in the proofreader’s corrections too.

And then I ran out of day. But, over all, it wasn’t a bad one. And, compared to recently, it was a nice easy day.
