Wednesday writing prompts

This week we have one story idea for next year and two evergreens.

With the new regime, I don’t have a lot of time to go into detail, but I think you have the gist of things by now. Simply choose one of the topics, and then brainstorm. Fiction and non-fiction; topical and evergreen.

The Phoenix Lights

Twenty-five years ago next year, on 13 March 1997, some strange lights began to appear in the sky over Phoenix in Arizona.

You can find out more about this phenomenon on ScientificMystery.com. And, if it interests you, do an internet search to see what else you can learn.

The Ides of March

This is an evergreen, as it occurs on 15 March every year. However, according to Britannica.com, it happened every month in the Roman calendar.

What else can you find out about the Ides of March? Does it inspire you to research further?

Birthdays

Yesterday was my birthday (in case you missed it!). Everyone has a birthday, but not everyone celebrates it.

Write a short story based around someone’s birthday, whether they celebrate it or not. Or, write an article about the history of birthday celebrations, or why some folk might not celebrate.

This one can be used any time of the year, or around a celebrity’s birthday or another famous birthday.

Over to you …

… and don’t forget to come back and let me know if and what you did, and how it fared.
