Goldthorpe Writers: Monday 2 September 2019

The schools still weren’t quite back on Monday when we met after the August bank holiday, and while there were three of us present this time, one of us, the librarian, had to help with staff training. Pauline and I are qetting quite used to having the whole 90 minutes to ourselves!

Fortunately, Pauline had pretty much sorted out most of her technical issues and had managed to write something new for this week. She kicked off with A Bird in the Hand, of a page and a half.

I read Scene 10 of The Fool, which was just over 500 words and my first new piece of work in a while.

Pauline read another of her memoirs, Memories, which though quite sad was also amusing in places. This was another new piece of work.

I then read the last few pages of Scene 9 of Catch the Rainbow.

Pauline read another of her memoirs, an old one this time, A Lunch Thrown In, which recollected a funny incident still often remembered today.

I finished today’s session with another scene from Catch the Rainbow.

Our homework this week is for Pauline to find a story she thought she’d brought this week and bring it next week, and to write another new memoir, and for me to at least write Scene 10 of The Fool from the protagonist’s viewpoint and maybe start Scene 11.

The next meeting will be on Monday 9 September at 2:30pm.
