Round-up & to-do list

Last week I had a proper ol’ blitzing of the work in progress. Here’s how I did:

  • stitch everything together for the Cadbury book

On Monday I added 2,728 words to the Cadbury book. On Tuesday I added 3,089 words. On Wednesday I added 1,617 words. On Thursday I added 1,900 words. And on Friday I added 1,702 words. I completed an entire chapter as well as filled in missing bits for earlier chapters. It’s still not finished, though. But we’re almost there.

  • write a blog post every day

Yes, I managed this, although for Friday’s (written on Thursday), I cheated a bit as it was just a promo post for a forthcoming book in the “coming soon” vein. On Monday I wrote an extra blog post for Tales From Baggins Bottom too.

  • complete 2 proofreading jobs for favourite client

No, I only started one of these. However …

  • complete an editing job for favourite client

… I completed two of these. Two more books are now on their way to designers for setting/layout.

  • scan the jobs board on a daily basis

Yes, I did this every day. I only pitched for one job, though, on Wednesday. And I won it, completed it that afternoon, submitted it that evening, and had been paid by morning. Plus I received a glowing review for my trouble.

  • daily competitions
  • daily online surveys
  • daily videos
  • check bank every day
  • complete 2 daily polls every day

Yes, yes, yes. I did all of these every day. Most were completed, but if they weren’t, if the hour was up, the hour was up and I moved on to the next thing on the list. I have to do that if I’m to (a) keep my sanity, and (b) keep the work (and the creative energy) moving.

  • diary work

The diary is completed to the end of next week. We’re on holiday from Thursday for a week.

  • weekly backup of the pc
  • weekly invoices/finances

Yup, all done as well.

Other work
I also added 2,303 words to four books, gave this blog a face-lift (did you notice?), and we had a doctor’s appointment, a hospital appointment and two hair appointments to fit in as well.

On Friday morning, after a dreaded Windows update, I also had to reinstall quite a few programs to the task bar that had been removed, and I had to start saving all of my favourite websites to my browser. And some people really do wonder why we hate Windows updates …

This week, then, is a 4-day week. We break up on Thursday for Easter and will be spending all of next week following the muse. Until then, though, here’s this week’s to-do list:

  • complete the Cadbury book
  • write a blog post every day
  • complete 1 proofreading job for favourite client
  • scan the jobs board on a daily basis
  • daily competitions
  • daily online surveys
  • daily videos
  • check bank every day
  • complete 2 daily polls every day
  • diary work
  • weekly backup of the pc
  • weekly invoices/finances

Again, the blue jobs are all allocated just one hour a day between them, the red jobs are weekly jobs. My priority this week is the Cadbury book. Everything else should come after that in the pecking order.

What’s on your to-do list this week?
