52 books in 52 weeks: Jill Mansell’s A-Z of Happiness

I set myself the goal of reading and reviewing 52 writing guides over the year. Here is book 29.

I didn’t know this one was on my Kindle until it popped up one day during NaNoWriMo and I spent several minutes making sure it hadn’t slipped on there un-ordered by myself. However, the Amazon page told me that I’d actually “bought” it on 6 November 2014 … ho-hum …

Jill Mansell’s A-Z of Happiness: a glimpse into the surprising and delightful world of a bestselling author is an e-short. And it’s FREE.  It’s also another one that does exactly what it says on the cover.

The book includes an A-Z of what this successful author likes to have around her while she’s writing and living, there’s a day in the life of an easily distracted writer, a Q&A with her, and (in my version) the first three chapters of Three Amazing Things About You.

However, there’s a NEW edition now, and this includes a peek inside Jill’s handbag, a dinner date with Jill, a quick-fire Q&A, and the first three chapters of Meet Me At Beachcomber’s Bay. I’ve not read these yet as I only just found out. But if you already have an older version, Kindle won’t let you buy a new one. However, just contact customer services and they’ll update your content for you.

This book is a delightful, light-hearted look at the life of an author. There are no how to write exercises, just what works for Jill. It’s funny and it’s entertaining. And as it’s free, well, you can’t go far wrong.

Jill Mansell’s A-Z of Happiness: a glimpse into the surprising and delightful world of a bestselling author is only available on Kindle here in the UK and here in the US. It’s a lot of fun.
